Founders
Founder
YAH began with Daria's idea: one place where the people she had met across different worlds, founders and artists, teachers and practitioners, families and friends, could finally sit at the same table. She has hosted retreats and gatherings for years and shapes what YAH feels like: the practices, the ceremonies, the rhythm of a day, the people who are invited to teach.
CEO and Co-Founder
Martin co-founded YAH with Daria and leads the project: the land, the licence, the masterplan with JDSA, the residences and the financing. An entrepreneur with a background in building companies and digital products, he is responsible for turning the idea into a place that opens, on budget and in keeping with the land it sits on.
Development and investment team
The team that structures and delivers YAH is based in Baar, Switzerland. Between them they have built and financed companies and real estate across sectors. None of them has run a resort: the general manager, the local partner in Santiago do Cacém and the construction manager are the hires that close that gap, and the intention is to have them in place before financing closes.
Strategy and partnerships
Serial entrepreneur in digital infrastructure and healthcare, with board mandates in construction, medtech, financial services and healthcare. Leads strategic direction, partner relations and business development for YAH.
Investment structuring
Structures and values investment opportunities across private equity, real estate and capital markets, with experience at UBS, Lakeward Management and as head of investment and asset management at allswiss. Owns the financial model and the investment structure of YAH.
Legal and tax structuring
Decades of tax and legal advisory for companies and private clients, founder of a firm specialising in tax law and corporate structuring, and experience leading an interdisciplinary physician network. Responsible for the ownership and transaction structure behind the residences and the resort.
Investor relations
Began at UBS in 2006 and has since worked across asset management and capital markets, serving institutional clients, family offices and private investors, with an entrepreneurial chapter in deep tech and sustainability. Leads investor and co-investment relations for YAH.
Development and operations
Real estate development specialist and former head of investment management in private equity. Responsible for execution: turning the masterplan into phases, budgets and contractors, and for the operating structure of the resort.
Investment analysis and due diligence
Background at UBS and in structured financial products. Runs the analysis behind YAH: due diligence, scenario and sensitivity modelling, and the investment documentation in the data room.
Architecture
The masterplan, the standard villa and bungalow, the restaurant, the pavilion and the studio were designed by JDSA in a masterplan study completed in 2021.
Low timber pavilions with wide shading roofs, placed between the existing cork oaks, with rainwater slowed down across the land instead of channelled off it. The drawings and renders across this site are theirs.
